Fill out your smile with natural looking dentures

Dentures are oral prosthetics made to look like natural teeth. They replace all or some of your teeth. At Stein Dental Care in Nashville, Tennessee, Alan Stein, DDS, creates full and partial dentures that fit comfortably and fill out your smile.

What’s right for you?

Dentures are restorative appliances that include false teeth and false gum. Full dentures replace all of your teeth. You may have to get extractions  to make space for a denture prior to having one made  There are two types of dentures:

Conventional Dentures

Conventional dentures are fabricated by having a mold for them made before you get all of your teeth pulled, and are placed after all of your teeth have been removed. If the extractions are performed outside of his office, he coordinates with the Oral Surgeon and may wait for your gums to heal after the extractions for about 4-6 weeks. During that time, you go without teeth. Once your gums have healed, he will place your dentures to fit over your gums perfectly.

Immediate Dentures

With immediate dentures, you don’t have to go without teeth. Dr. Stein will fabricate the denture before he extracts your teeth, and then have the denture placed immediately after the extractions are performed. This is Dr. Stein’s preferred method for dealing with a denture case. Your gums heal under your permanent set of dentures and this allows for a better fit. However, you’ll need to come back later for sizing adjustments because your gum tissue changes in size as part of the healing process. Dr. Stein never charges extra for these follow-up visits.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures do not replace all of your teeth. Instead, they replace just some of them. If you still have a few natural teeth, Dr. Stein may recommend partial dentures to allow you to keep those teeth and avoid extractions. You can get metal, acrylic, or nylon partial dentures. Nylon is the most common.

When you come to Stein Dental Care for your consultation, we help you decide which type of dentures you should get and whether you’ll need extractions.

If you’re missing multiple teeth, consider getting a partial denture to:

  • Improve your speech phonetics
  • Restore your smile’s appearance
  • Restore your mouth’s functionality
  • Restore your facial structure
  • Keep some of your natural teeth
  • Prevent natural teeth from shifting
